Zoot Allures (50th Anniversary)

Zoot Allures celebrates its fiftieth anniversary with two limited editions exploring Frank Zappa’s recordings from a fresh perspective.

The 180g black double-vinyl edition presents The Composer’s unreleased 2LP version, Night Of The Iron Sausage. Featuring additional recordings, a different running order and alternate mixes and edits, it comes in a gatefold jacket.

The super deluxe 5CD/Blu-ray box includes the newly remastered original album, Night Of The Iron Sausage, previously unheard studio outtakes, alternate mixes, radio ads and a complete concert recorded in Paris in March 1976. “Son Of Canard Du Jour” features newly recorded bass by Zappa band alumnus Arthur Barrow.

The Blu-ray includes the new album remaster in 192k/24-bit and 96k/24-bit PCM stereo, plus Dolby Atmos and Dolby TrueHD 5.1 mixes by Studio1LA at 48k/24-bit. Three bonus audio tracks are included, with bespoke visualizers displaying rare and unseen photographs.

An expanded booklet features rare album-cover photo-shoot outtakes by Gary Heery, archival images by Neil Zlozower and new essays by Vaultmeister Joe Travers, Jason Pettigrew and original album engineer Michael Braunstein.
