Winter In A&E

London’s Secrecy capture the morbid, grandiose power of their live shows on debut release Winter In A&E. Produced by Ski and Rob from High-Vis, its six tracks draw compositional cues from The Execute, Southern Death Cult and The Chameleons.

Crisp, room-filling instrumentals retain an austere edge, with urgent vocals, marching drums and bass underpinning soaring, almost danceable guitar lines. The result pushes post-punk towards something bleak, forceful and physically compelling.

Lyrics move between poetic imagery and primitive cries, with influences from Rimbaud and Baudelaire and a stark focus on desire, mortality and moral turmoil. For listeners drawn to Red Lorry Yellow Lorry, The Chameleons and Vex.
