This deluxe 4LP boxset includes all the albums recorded together by the legendary Bill Evans Trio featuring Evans on piano, Scott LaFaro on bass, and Paul Motian on drums.
The two studio albums 'Portrait in Jazz' and 'Explorations (with the addition of 2 bonus tracks), and 'The Village Vanguard Sessions' (which comprises both 'Sunday at the Village Vanguard' and 'Waltz for Debby', plus an alternative take of 'Alice in Wonderland', and a reading of 'I Loves You Porgy', absent from both original releases.
Widely considered one of the greatest and most influential piano trios in modern jazz, it would come to a tragic end when Scott LaFaro died in a car crash on July 6, 1961, at the age of 25, just ten days after the Village Vanguard sessions presented here.
