More Info
2 CD digitally remastered Deluxe Edition of The Fall’s 1996 studio album, including 12 bonus tracks. The Light User Syndrome is often acclaimed as the last classic-style Fall album, owing both to the presence of longtime personnel including Brix Smith, Karl Burns, Steve Hanley and Simon Wolstencroft, as well as its guitar-driven post-punk sound. Leader Mark E. Smith is on top form, including one of his legendary “pre-cogs” in “Powder Keg.” The Fall claimed three spots on legendary DJ John Peel’s ‘Festive Fifty’ chart of 1996’s best songs, more than any other artist; “Cheetham Hill” led the way at #6, followed by “The Chiselers” at #13 and “Hostile” at #16.
After years of unavailability, The Light User Syndrome is now brought in line with The Fall’s acclaimed catalogue reissue series as a 2 CD set. This Deluxe Edition adds singles, B-sides, alternate versions, and live recordings from 1996, all newly remastered by Andy Pearce, plus extensive sleeve notes with new interviews conducted by Daryl Easlea. LINEUP: Mark E. Smith – vocals, tapes / Brix Smith – guitar, vocals / Stephen Hanley – bass guitar / Karl Burns – drums, vocals, guitar / Simon Wolstencroft – drums, programming Julia Nagle – keyboards, guitar
