Warren James – the duo of James Kirk (Orange Juice) and Warren McIntyre (Starry Skies) – bring together decades of Glasgow indie pedigree on Tales From Film City. Kirk’s distinctive jangling guitar style, first heard with Orange Juice, meets McIntyre’s melodic songwriting, honed through years of touring and radio play with Starry Skies.
The pair began collaborating after a series of live appearances in Glasgow, quickly developing a productive writing partnership. Early single ‘Miss Green Tea / Costa del Culzean’ picked up support across Scottish radio and 6Music, setting the tone for their joint output.
Recorded largely at their studio in Glasgow’s Film City, the album captures a relaxed, melodic approach, drawing on classic indie pop with a light, personal touch. Contributions from Gerard Love (Teenage Fanclub) and Chris Geddes (Belle & Sebastian) add further depth to the record’s warm, collaborative feel.
