Deafheaven and Bosse-de-Nage’s landmark 2012 Split returns to vinyl and cassette for the first time in fourteen years, newly remixed and remastered with new cover artwork by photographer Dylan Hausthor.
An early milestone for The Flenser and both Bay Area bands, the release captures a friendship formed at a formative moment in their careers. Deafheaven contribute a cover of Mogwai’s “Punk Rock / Cody”, while Bosse-de-Nage’s original “A Mimesis of Purpose” features strings arranged and performed by Astrid J. Smith.
Rather than simply repress the original, both bands revisited their recordings. Longtime Deafheaven collaborator Jack Shirley remixed “Punk Rock / Cody”, while Agriculture’s Richard Chowenhill remixed “A Mimesis of Purpose”, bringing new clarity and dimension to the performances.
Available as an indie-exclusive Bubblegum Pink 12-inch, a standard 12-inch and an indie-exclusive cassette.
