Vocalist Sasha Desree and producer Michael Collins, also known for Drugdealer, conjure minimal, lo-fi soul on Silk Rhodes. Originally released in 2014, their self-titled debut draws on classic R&B while carving out a sound of its own.
At its centre is “Pains”, the arresting debut single that introduced the duo. The album also features the glittery disco of “Face 2 Face” and the lo-fi intimacy of “This Painted World”, a collection of soulful songs that continues to find new listeners.
After several years out of print, Silk Rhodes returns on Magenta Haze vinyl.
