Winners of the very frst Mojo Hero Award, the band have been a massive
success & a huge infuence on artists as diverse as David Bowie, The Ramones,
Bob Dylan, The Sex Pistols, The White Stripes & many more. The band frst burst
onto the scene in 1965 with a blend of raw, explosive R&B. Over the course of
several albums, they evolved their sound, highlighted by the release of the frst
ever rock opera 'S.F. Sorrow'. They followed this with a string of albums which
secured the band a frm & loyal fanbase.By the time the Pretty Things began work
on their second album for Swan Song, a growing darkness had crept into the
band. But the most powerful art often feeds on darkness & that was the case with
the best songs on 'Savage Eye'. 'Under The Volcano', with its swaggering riff, fery
guitar work & soul-searching lyrics, 'Remember That Boy', a taught, intense rocker.
Most powerful of all, 'Drowned Man', a haunting meditation on the death of a
friend. In a brighter vein, 'I'm Keeping', an upbeat reggae-favoured number, was
frst released as a single in June 1975, more than half a year ahead of the album.
