Different Strokes For Different Folks presents the first-ever vinyl reissue of Al Basim’s Revival, originally released as a private pressing in 1979. Out-there guitar jams, spiritual jazz, kosmische-soaked rock and Middle Eastern ambience come together in a record that resists easy categorisation.
The album documents Baghdad-born musician Basim Al-Hashimi’s 1978 journey to the United States, where Arabic styles met his love of Western sixties and seventies rock. Led by his melodic guitar, the band moves between psychedelic excursions, meditative ambient passages, jazz-inflected grooves and joyful progressive motifs.
Licensed directly from Basim Al-Hashimi, the reissue includes an interview exploring his American experience and the album’s creation, alongside photographs from his personal archive. This single-LP edition comes in a slip sleeve.
