Swedish pianist Martin Tingvall continues his personal musical journey with Perception Of Time, his fifth solo album. Moving further towards contemporary neoclassical expression, his Nordic-influenced sound draws together jazz, melodic clarity and echoes of the European piano tradition.
Quiet movements, engaging harmonies and subtle emotional shifts create a space for reflection. Tingvall touches on contrapuntal and fugue-like forms while keeping his playing direct and expressive, allowing simple motifs to unfold with depth and sensitivity.
“Very Early” and “Very Late” capture fleeting moments of stillness, while “Orphans”, dedicated to children who have lost their families to wars worldwide, reflects on the fragility of the present. The result is a poetic piano journey between darkness and departure, hope and silence.
