More Info
Originally released as Levellers’ second single in 1989, Outside Inside returns on 12-inch vinyl, remastered by the band’s Jon Sevink.
A collection of songs recorded at different times and places, the EP’s main sessions were produced by Phil Vinall, whose work with The Ruts on “West One (Shine On Me)” had caught the band’s attention. Seeking a grittier, more live sound than on their debut EP Carry Me, Levellers recorded in Croydon after an extended stay playing at Amsterdam’s Last Bus Shelter squat bar.
As Jeremy Leveller recalls: “So we recorded it as live as possible thru the night as I recall + what we did is what you hear!”
