Not In My Name

Not in My Name is a powerful new chapter in Archive’s genre-defying story. Moving between ambient hip-hop, art rock, electronic pop and neo-prog, the 11-track album channels the anger and urgency of turbulent times, led by its epic 18-minute anti-war title track. Across the record, the band’s distinctive vocalists and musicians bring a wide range of perspectives and textures, from punk-inflected intensity to soulful ballads and explosive rap.

Arriving just a year after the acclaimed Glass Minds, the album also marks the arrival of rapper Jimmy Collins as a permanent member, bringing fresh energy to Archive’s evolving sound. For founder Darius Keeler, Not in My Name represents a particularly significant moment: “I think it’s the most impressive record we’ve done.”

“It was bizarre to finish an album and immediately feel so inspired to write another one straightaway – but we were responding to world events, and the collective sense of anger that we all feel. The world has become a warped and distorted place, it’s clear that mankind has lost its humanity somewhere along the way.

Not In My Name was an intense record to make, it’s a very different album to any we've made before. The title track is the centrepiece, it’s an eighteen-minute epic and features all five Archive vocalists on the same track, something we’ve never attempted before. The track also sees the return of vocalist Holly Martin who didn’t feature at all on the Glass Minds album, it was great to work with Holly again on the new album.

It's not all intense though, there are quiet and beautiful moments on the album too, like Treading Water, To Life and Don't Shake My Ground, plus one of our most raw and fucked-up punk songs to date, Huh.

The album title Not In My Name is simply a phrase I imagine a lot of us have spinning around our heads these days, but we must never give up hope that the good will out.” said Archive’s Darius Keeler.
