A switch to northern soul for our fifth release.
The Fashionettes – ‘Losin’ Control’: The Mary Saxton version of this was a monster at Wigan Casino, but this – the clearly superior version – went unreleased for 40 years until Kent Records maestro Ady Croasdell uncovered it and cut Keb Darge a dub of it. Keb then played it on his next tour with DJ Shadow, who told Keb it was his favourite record from his set. A powerful tune indeed.
The Performers – ‘I Can’t Stop You’: A Mirwood record with quite a bit of the Mirwood sound sucked out of it, leaving us with a more sophisticated stomper than usual. Somewhat ignored in the heyday of the northern scene, but perfect for today’s young and slightly more sophisticated crowd.
