Looking For Evergreens! celebrates the sunshine, soft and studio pop of 1966–1971, an era of memorable melodies, intricate vocal harmonies and imaginative arrangements. Thirty-two selections bring together forgotten singles, obscure B-sides, rare recordings and previously unissued material.
Highlights include The Dawnbreakers, featuring future soft-rock stars Seals & Crofts, harmony-rich recordings from The Sierras and The Chosen Few’s “Pink Clouds And Lemonade”. Mikie Harris contributes “Love Is All I Need”, while Quartet, featuring Terry Britten, Kevin Peek, Trevor Spencer and Alan Tarney, offer the McCartney-inspired ballad “Now”.
Further connections include Roger Nichols’ arrangement for Tanya Falan’s “I Feel It” and the vocals of future Archies singer Ron Dante on Abrahamm And Strauss. The Devils Brigade’s previously unissued “Can’t Help But Wonder” is among the collection’s elusive discoveries.
The CD includes a twenty-four-page full-colour booklet with rare photographs, original record-label scans and detailed annotations covering all thirty-two tracks.
