'Germ' was released in May 2025, when Harrow native Kate Nash wrote an essay (and then set music to it) in response to the recent ruling by the UK's Supreme Court on gender definitions. 'Germ' took its name from an acronym for "girl, exclusionary, regressive, misogynist", which Nash penned as an alternative to 'TERF', and she addressed multiple social issues including domestic abuse, men's mental health, and transphobia.
