Product Info

The 1970s Zappa started with Burnt Weeny Sandwich, a mixture of live and studio tracks he recorded with the first cast of his Mothers of Invention, so the album can be described as an outtake collection by Uncle Meat (1969). Virtuoso and funny, Burnt Weeny Sandwich is an amalgam of various ZAPPA-defining currents. The cover “WPLJ “of a 1950s pop song by the Four Deuces is included. Zappa discovers the sailor shanty on “Aybe Sea”. Zappa dedicates the Ode, “Igor's Boogie “to his idol, the composer Igor Stravinsky. The prog-rocking theme of “Holiday In Berlin “later reappeared in the soundtrack of the Zappa film “200 Motels”.
