Dawning is a collaboration between Chicago creative music mainstay Damon Locks and Black chamber music collective D-Composed. Recorded live at The Land School, Rebuild Foundation’s headquarters on Dorchester Avenue in Chicago, Illinois, the album captures a meeting of distinctive musical approaches in a shared creative home, where D-Composed and International Anthem are the inaugural creative partners in residence.
Locks’ live sampling, beat knowledge and spoken-word swagger meet D-Composed’s take on the Black string ensemble, creating an otherworldly sonic palette.
