"Lick My Decals of Baby" stands as a more accessible version of it's predecessor although it does cover some of the same ground. The aforementioned more open sound of the instrumentation coupled with a couple of almost songs "I love you, Big Dummy" make this a better introduction to Beefheart's more difficult work than the long slog that is "Trout Mask Replica". Not that you get off lightly and there are some challenging pieces but Boston and Harkleroad playing the gorgeous "Peon" as if joined at the hip is worth the price of this alone.
