Delivering speaker-blasting versions of 'You Really Got Me' and 'All Day and All of
the Night', they left the Olympia audience's ears ringing well into the following
morning. Eight years later, the group were an altogether different prospect when,
in the spring of 1973, they flmed a broadcast special for British TV. Dispensing
with those two career-making hits as a medley gave the setlist room for some of
Ray Davies' fnest observational song- writing, including the hipster parody
'Dedicated Follower of Fashion', the ahead- of- its- time 'Lola' and the evergreen
anthem for bygone times, 'Waterloo Sunset'.
