Recorded in a four-day burst at Chale Studio on the Isle of Wight, Banquet Rock brings together Spencer Cullum, Max Kinghorn-Mills of Hollow Hand and Erin Rae for their debut album as a collective. Set inside a sixteenth-century building near the island’s rugged south-coast cliffs, the sessions captured musicians who had shared stages in different combinations but had never written together before.
Ten colourful songs draw on a shared love of seventies British folk, acid-folk oddities and vintage children’s television soundtracks. Bright vocal flourishes meet pedal steel, pump organ, synthesizer and Rhodes piano, with Dom Billet on drums, Harry Bohay on bass and Rich Ruth on guitars and synths contributing to the communal spirit.
Available on “Moonstone Sage” clear vinyl and CD.
