It’s difficult to describe the relationship between this soundtrack and the series it accompanies. The visuals are inextricably linked to the music but Badalamenti’s disquieting score works as a breathtaking standalone work.
Standing somewhere in the area between lounge jazz, dream pop and ambient, the influence of this soundtrack has been deeply felt in the worlds of both original soundtracks and the popular music sphere in general, having been sampled by the likes of Moby and The KLF. Whether you’ve seen the show or not, we can’t recommend this enough.
