Provision (2026 Reissue)

Scritti Politti’s third album Provision returns to vinyl and CD after a long absence, with new sleeve notes from Green Gartside and David Gamson telling the story behind their ambitious 1988 recording.

Working between London and New York, Gartside and Gamson pushed analogue recording to its limits, assembling individual performances with magnetic tape and razor blades into a seamless whole. Roger Troutman brought his distinctive Talkbox sound, Dan Huff contributed guitar and Miles Davis added trumpet to “Oh Patti (Don't Feel Sorry for Loverboy)”, following his own cover of Scritti’s “Perfect Way”.

The result pairs intricate studio craft with irresistible melodies, from “Boom! There She Was” and “Overnite” to “Sugar And Spice”. The new notes reflect candidly on the challenges and discoveries behind a record whose musical elegance remains undimmed.

The reissue preserves the original format-specific sequences: nine core tracks on vinyl, with the CD adding “Oh Patti (Extended)” and “Boom! There She Was (Dub)”.
