Oh yeah? feels like Steve Lacy doing what he does best — taking familiar sounds and twisting them into something that somehow feels completely his own. Four years on from the breakout success of Gemini Rights, this third album leans even further into his genre-blurring instincts, pulling together alternative rock, R&B, funk and psychedelic pop without ever sounding like it's trying too hard. It's loose, playful and full of unexpected turns, but underneath all that is a record that's quietly preoccupied with love, desire and the awkward messiness of human connection.
