After the futuristic club textures and electronic experimentation of Raven, she’s heading back toward her roots, drawing inspiration from her early days in Washington, D.C.’s indie scene and blending shoegaze, grunge, alternative rock and R&B into something that feels both nostalgic and completely new. Kelela has described the album as music that “finds solace in confronting” rather than escaping reality, suggesting a record that's more interested in processing the chaos of modern life than tuning it out
