Zero is the third album from Wilkes-Barre’s One Step Closer, following 2024’s All You Embrace. Recorded with longtime collaborator Jon Markson, it pairs heart-on-sleeve lyricism and visceral energy with a deeper undercurrent of sadness, turning difficult feelings into music bursting with life.
“This may have been the hardest year for us, and that’s reflected in the songs,” says vocalist Ryan Savitski. “There’s so much desperation on this record but I think people can relate to that.” Lead single “Blue Hour” builds from sombre beginnings to a ferocious climax, while “Was It Ever Enough?” and “A Fleeting Face” move between punk sing-alongs and melancholic alternative rock.
A decade into their journey, the band continue to broaden the sound established on From Me To You and This Place You Know, pushing towards new forms of connection without losing their emotional directness.
The Blue Hour First Run Club indie-retail-exclusive LP includes a CD sampler, sticker pack and exclusive 18 × 24-inch poster. An Eco Mix vinyl edition and an indie-only CD edition are also available.
