More Info

This album showcases the Smiths’ legendary concert at the Royal Court Theatre, in Liverpool, on 8 February 1986, in its entirety.

Billed as “From Manchester With Love”, this famous benefit gig saw headliners the Smiths share the stage with New Order, John Cooper Clarke and The Fall.

The Smiths’s 45-minute set drew heavily from 1985’s Meat Is Murder and the forthcoming The Queen Is Dead album. Vicar in a Tutu, Cemetery Gates and There Is a Light That Never Goes Out were all debuted that evening.

The set ignored early material with Johnny teasing with the intros to This Charming Man and What Difference Does It Make?. Highlights include Rusholme Ruffians (which had the full (Marie’s the Name) His Latest Flame intro) and the earliest track, William, It Was Really Nothing.
