* Newly compiled by Pipeline Magazine, Ace Records' CD "The Birth Of Surf" traces the evolution of instrumental surf music from its rock'n'roll roots through to the minor classics and big surf hits of its peak year in 1963.
* It includes rockin' contributions from influential guitar stars Duane Eddy, Link Wray, the Ventures and the Fireballs, early surf from Californian group the Tornadoes, the pivotal and defining blast of Dick Dale's `Miserlou', the big surf hits `Pipeline', `Wipe Out', `Baja' and `Penetration', and the cream of the self-released recordings from the myriad of young surf groups that sprung up in their wake.
