Bob Marley is one of those artists for whom it is impossible to divorce their cultural impact from their musical achievement. As music’s first superstar from outside the UK or US, his international success surpassed traditional boundaries, resonating as strongly in Lagos and Harare as in London and New York.
During the 70s, the Wailers, under the guidance of producer Lee Perry, crafted a body of work that laid the foundations for what this unique compilation represents: recordings as vital as any in Marley's oeuvre.
Forty years on, despite the globalization of music stardom, Marley remains a singular figure whose contributions continue to influence a myriad of artists and resonate worldwide.
