More Info

The long-awaited new edition of The Dave Pike Set's absolutely unique 1969 debut album, 'Noisy Silence - Gentle Noise'. The American vibraphonist Dave Pike had already become famous in the 1960s through his work with the likes of Herbie Mann, Bill Evans and Paul Bley. Recorded in Europe, the combination of Pike's vibraphone style and the electrical as well acoustic guitar and sitar play by the German Volker Kriegel made the Dave Pike set an instant success.
'Noisy Silence - Gentle Noise' is an ideal title for this record. Dave Pike's and Volker Kriegel's music is as light as it is loud, eloquent as it is silent, romance is hidden behind its power.

"Mathar" became the most popular track on the album, which is known far beyond genre boundaries and still streamed millionfold.

Dave Pike: vibraphone, tambourine
Volker Kriegel: electric and acoustic guitar, sitar
Hans Rettenbacher: bass
Peter Baumeister: drums
