Mainland Madinina

Charlotte Adigéry and Bolis Pupul follow Topical Dancer with Mainland Madinina, a shimmering, riotous album that turns their wit and dance-pop instincts towards grief, parenthood, lineage and colonial history.

Named for their respective places of origin, mainland China for Pupul and Martinique, known by its indigenous name Madinina, for Adigéry, the record explores resilience in the face of trauma. The opening track “Restless” captures its spirit: “When you don’t know where to go, go within / My home is my skin.” Personal reflection and cathartic energy meet throughout its twelve songs.

The black double-vinyl edition comes in a UV-gloss sleeve with a 5mm spine and four-page insert. The limited transparent red double-vinyl edition features a UV-gloss gatefold sleeve and two printed inner sleeves. The CD is housed in a clear-tray jewel case with a twelve-page booklet.
