• MFSB (Mother Father Sister Brother) were the house band for Philadelphia International and worked closely with the production team of Gamble & Huff.
• They backed up groups such as Harold Melvin & The Blue Notes, the O’Jays, the Stylistics, the Spinners, Wilson Picket and Billy Paul.
MFSB’s second album ‘LOVE IS THE MESSAGE’ was released in 1974 and reached R&B #1 and Pop #4.
’T.S.O.P. (THE SOUND OF PHILADELPHIA)’ is probably known to most as the theme from Soul Train. It was a massive hit, featuring the Three Degrees, reaching R&B #1, Pop #1 and UK #22. It sold over one million copies.
The Single Version of ‘LOVE IS THE MESSAGE’, also featuring The Three Degrees, reached R&B #42 and Pop #85. It has also been sampled by the likes of EPMD and LL Cool J.
