Director Adrian Chiarella delivers an extremely emotionally rich and nuanced queer love story dripping in small-town bigotry and fear of the unknown, without a doubt one of the year’s most effective horror movies. The score by Jed Kurzel (The Babadook) delivers a brooding (yet tender) ambient synth-heavy score that really engages as a standalone listen, quietly pulling you in, lulling you into its soundscapes only to creep you out with its twisted unconventional melodies.
