More Info

This was the last album released by Cash during his lifetime, and part 4 of the American Recordings series.
"Give My Love To Rose" as featured here kept the Grammy count going for the series. It was also with this album that the sales figures began rising and deservedly so, making an appearance in the UK as well as the US charts, where the placing where Cash's strongest for some time.
There are some great covers of some old time songs even including "We'll Meet Again" made famous by Vera Lynn. Cash' demonstrates his depth of musical ability and his diversity as earlier on the same album "Personal Jesus" is featured, by Depeche Mode. The originals couldn't be further apart, but Cash had the magic to include them on the same album without either seeming out of place.
