More Info

At Record Store Day 2014, XL label unveiled “Nothing New”, a collection of covers by Gil Scott-Heron of his major titles. These new interpretations made by Richard Russell between 2005 and 2009 were recorded during the same sessions as “I'm New Here” the last album of the poet singer disappeared on May 27, 2011. You can hear poignant piano-voice versions of songs chosen between the period of the albums “Pieces Of A Man” (1971) and “The Other Side” (1994).
“Nothing New” is now enriched with the DVD documentary “Who Is Gil Scott-Heron?” directed by Iain Forsyth and Jane Pollard, already authors of the film “20,000 Days on Earth” about Nick Cave.
