The long-lost original score and soundtrack to Abel Ferrara’s 1979 grindhouse film The Driller Killer receives its first-ever CD release. Composed by Joe Delia, it features contributions from Tony Coca-Cola And The Roosters and classical pieces by J.S. Bach.
Sourced from the original film master tapes, this remastered edition is approved by the composer and director, with creative input from Ferrara. First released on vinyl in May 2026, the recordings capture the sounds of 1977–78 New York, combining Delia’s ARP synthesizer score with the music of the film’s downtown scene.
Delia recalls scoring directly to a two-track tape deck while watching the film on a Steenbeck, using an ARP Odyssey and an ARP String Ensemble. The resulting music preserves the raw atmosphere of Ferrara’s low-budget underground cinema.
Presented in a six-panel high-gloss digipak featuring Douglas Metro’s paintings from the film, this edition includes lyrics and liner notes from Joe Delia and Abel Ferrara, plus a folded poster featuring the original theatrical release artwork.
