Comme à la Radio: On Air is a limited-edition double-LP companion to Brigitte Fontaine’s landmark 1970 album Comme à la Radio. Limited to 2,000 copies worldwide, it gathers previously unreleased French ORTF radio performances from 1969–71 alongside unissued recordings from the original Saravah studio sessions.
The first LP features Areski Belkacem and musicians from Paris’s expatriate jazz scene, including Steve Potts, Robin Kenyatta and Ronnie Beer. These performances trace Fontaine’s repertoire from the theatrical worlds of Les Enfants Sont Tous Fous and Niok to the music of Comme à la Radio.
The second LP explores the studio sessions through two instrumental versions of the title track, the complete ten-minute take of “Leo” and an alternate mix of “Tanka II”, revealing fresh perspectives on the musicians’ extraordinary interplay.
Newly remastered from the original tapes, the set includes a four-page bilingual booklet with an essay by Fontaine biographer Benoît Mouchart and an introduction by Saravah’s Benjamin Barouh.
