Still in his teens, Alex Chilton & the Box Tops cooked-up a hearty brand of Memphis rock 'n' soul stew from the very beginning with The Letter. Once the band broke through with that 1967 classic, well, there was just no stopping that flow of soulful singles: Neon Rainbow, Cry Like a Baby, Choo-Choo Train, Soul Deep, and the out of left field classics I Met Her in Church and Sweet Cream Ladies, Forward March. They're all included here, along with great b-sides (Fields of Clover, People Gonna Talk), deep cuts (She Shot a Hole in My Soul, Happy Times), and lost singles (I Shall Be Released, Turn On a Dream). A killer collection by anyone's standards, and at a bargain price.
