Product Info

* O.C. Tolbert is an enigmatic character who also recorded under the names of King Diamond, Damn Sam The Miracle Man and Tolbert and had very collectible discs issued under each alias. His best work was his first recordings with Detroit producer Dave Hamilton who cut him on several excellent late 60s and early 70s tracks, few of which were issued.

* Since Kent bought Dave Hamilton's collection of tapes many Tolbert gems have emerged onto the scene to much acclaim. Finally there are enough tracks to give O.C. his deserved album of recordings. Several are being issued for the first time and all come from master tape that has preserved his rough, awe-inspiring tones.

* `You Got Me Turned Around' is an alternate vocal to Tobi Lark and Little Ann's in-demand `Sweep It Out In The Shed'. `Fix It' is a newly discovered funk powerhouse. `Let Me Be Your Only Man' is the original opus that was later re-cut as by Damn Sam The Miracle man on his much-vaunted Tayster LP.

* Dutch journalist Andreas Vingaard is writing an article on O C Tolbert's later producer Jack Taylor for publication in Wax Poetics magazine or similar.

* Compiled by Ady Croasdell.
