The Derek Trucks Band’s Already Free finds the group balancing its instrumental fire with a collaborative approach to songwriting and arrangements. Originally released in 2009, the album draws together rock, blues, jazz and eastern Indian modal influences, giving the band’s individual contributions room to shape the whole.
Featuring “Down In The Flood” and “Sweet Inspiration”, the record earned the band their first Grammy Award, winning Best Contemporary Blues Album in 2010. Trucks co-wrote “Back Where I Started” with fellow Allman Brothers Band guitarist Warren Haynes.
