More Info

The 19th Bob Dylan album and his first since his conversion to Christianity, originally released in 1979. All of the songs either express his strong personal faith, or stress the importance of Christian teachings and philosophy, which alienated a lot of fans. "Gotta Serve Somebody" became his first hit single for 3 years (reaching #24 in the U.S.). During this period, Dylan refused to play his older songs or other secular material, again drawing hecklers at his live shows. Dylan was firmly entrenched in his evangelical ways, and it would continue through his next album, whether his audience would follow or not.
