From the opening seconds of “Odyssey”, you can tell it’s going to be a grandiose affair. We fell immediately in love with saxophonist Nubya Garcia’s second solo album, from the delicate pizzicato strings on “Water’s Path” to the frenetic drumming and red-hot soloing on “The Seer”. An expansive record that truly does feel like a journey, “Odyssey” holds some of the freshest jazz around that’s a joy to delve into.
