Sister Ray Says : Music critic Walter Bangs branded Croce's type of folk music as essentially hippie trash, in his fantastic book Psychotic Reactions and Carburetor Dung (1987). Though Bangs reputation was and is a respectable one, we've got to disagree with him here. 'You Don't Mess Around With Jim' has to be one of the most beautiful, understated and wholly underrated folk albums of the 70s.
