More Info

The Monkees were just two albums into their career when they took to the stage of the Arizona Veterans Memorial Coliseum in Phoenix, Arizona, on 21 January 1967, but they were greeted like old heroes by a crowd ready to go ape at the frst note of music.

Didn't write their own songs? Didn't matter. David Jones, Michael Nesmith, Peter Tork and Micky Dolenz could sure play the hell out of them, as this broadcast recording proves. 'Last Train to Clarksville', 'I'm a Believer', '(I'm Not Your) Steppin' Stone' - all the early hits are here, along with further standouts from their two albums two date, The Monkees (1966) and More of the Monkees (1967).

The group would wind their way down increasingly experimental paths before the 60s came to a close, but Phoenix Broadcast Live 21st Jan 1967 captures the full fush of Monkeemania as unleashed by an auditorium of screaming believers.
