Fabled electronic music visionaries CoH and Abul Mogard forma supranatural alchemy of discrete analogue material and digitalenergies in their extraordinary debut for Houndstooth.

Stemming from a chance meeting at festival in 2019, CoH andAbul Mogard’s maiden collaboration focusses stunning newperspectives on the artist’s respective, fiercely singular andwidely adored bodies of work.

Ivan Pavlov’s CoH, deeply respected for intensely curiousoriginal solo work, and in SoiSong with Psychic TV / Coil’s PeterChristophersen, here renders a vital, grayscale fluorescencefrom Guido Zen’s lushly romantic Buchla 200 and SergeModular scapes, painted to tape between Stockholm’s EMSstudio and at home, under his Abul Mogard nom de synth.

You read that correctly - this is the first Abul Mogard release tobe disclosed as the work of Italian artist Guido Zen; the late 90selectronica pioneer known for work with Gamers In Exile andGoodiepal at the turn of the millennium, and more recently inkosmiche unit Brain Machine, plus its parallel club projectVactrol Park, and in trio with NWW dynamo Colin Potter andAlessio Natalizia (Not Waving).

As such, ‘CoH Meets Abul Mogard’ drops the veil of fictionalpretence after a decade of speculation, only to reveal Mogard’smusic at its most metaphysically powerful, its allusive majestyheightened and reified by CoH’s computer-based sorcery andallegorically encrypted in the hand-drawn peculiarity of thealbum artwork, licensed from Nick Blinko (owner of OuterHimalayan Records and co-founder of legendary deathrockcatalysts, Rudimentary Peni).
