They don’t show their faces, no one knows who they are, you can’t recognize them at concerts. The most mysterious band in Poland return with their fourth, long-awaited album, ‘Blood Moon’.

In summer 2019, BOKKA asked friend director and screenwriter Dorota Piskor to write an outline of a script that would inspire the band to create a fourth album. This is how the idea of ‘Blood Moon’ was born, taking us on a fictional journey to the day of the end of the world which, according to many legends and beliefs, was supposed to happen during the phenomenon called ‘blood moon’.

The cinematic aura took the artists to territories they had never been to before. The band decided to use, for them, unusual means of expression, such as orchestral and symphonic sounds. Not only string instruments but also flutes, clarinets, oboes and bassoons have since become close to them. The vocals are no longer just at the front, they also weave carpets into the instrumental layer. This is thanks to many hours of sampling all the different sounds a person can make.

‘Blood Moon’ has a different, melodic and unhurried pace and narrative than BOKKA’s previous works. The protagonists of this story, in the face of an approaching cataclysm, remain engrossed in their private emotions, dilemmas, fiery resolutions and reflections on the meaning of existence.

The album was produced by top Polish producer Bogdan Kondracki, responsible for the success of many Polish artists, including Dawid Podsiadło, Ania Dąbrowska and Monika Brodka. Jakub Guzik worked on visual concept of the release.

The band appeared on the music scene in 2013 with their debut album, ‘BOKKA’. The record received wide media coverage, not only in Poland (Gazeta Wyborcza, Rzeczpospolita, Dziennik Gazeta Prawna, KMag, Elle, Onet, Interia and many others) but also abroad (Pitchfork). The success of the album resulted in an intensive tour with all concerts sold out. The second album’ ‘Don’t Kiss and Tell’, was released in 2015.

Since its inception, the band have played concerts both in Poland and abroad. BOKKA have performed on stage at such prestigious festivals as Open'er, Tauron Nowa Muzyka, Audioriver, The Great Escape, Reeperbahn Festival, Orange Warsaw Festival, Colours of Ostrava, Positivus Festival, Grape Festival and Eurosonic Noorderslag. 2018 saw the release of the band's third studio album, ‘LIFE ON PLANET B’ and in 2020 they remixed Archive’s ‘Remains of Nothing’ to much acclaim.
