Applause indie pop / rock Belgian band’s debut studio album

It was released on October 2011. "Applause" is a rare accolade to musical shrewdness. It's realistically ambitious. The musical influences linger, but do so playfully. A touch of Arctic Monkeys, Blur, dEUS, Gorillaz, LCD Soundsystem?
the five-piece from kortrijk / ghent are a band with swagger who produce a uniquely rhythmic, alt-indie sound. "their strengths, most notably their flair for rhythmic beat, are fully exemplified on applause with its speed & grooving feel. a comparison to the arctic monkeys wouldn't be too far off, actually, although fairly slower, combining touches of the streets, & maybe even the gorillaz to keep things relatively odd, but fresh...the band's work here sounds experienced, full of potential, & ready to make some belgian hipsters squeal with glee: applause for balthazar is well earned, gentlemen" 4/5 - the skinny
