This deluxe double-LP edition features revised artwork, the original album and eight previously unreleased songs and alternate takes.

An Afrofuturist, dystopian concept album, Splendor & Misery follows the sole survivor of a slave uprising on an interstellar cargo ship and the onboard computer that falls in love with him. Alone and lost in space, he discovers music in the ship’s shuddering hull and chirping instrument panels.

Clipping’s music draws an imaginary sonic map of the ship’s decks, hallways and quarters, while Daveed Diggs’ lyrics ride rhythms produced by its engines and machinery. One of the trio’s most beloved releases, the album appeared on multiple year-end lists and was named among Pitchfork’s 33 best industrial albums of all time in 2019.

Tracklist

Side 1

Long Way Away (Intro)

The Breach

All Black

Interlude 01 (Freestyle)

Wake Up

Long Way Away

Interlude 02 (Numbers)

True Believer

Side 2

Long Way Away (Instrumental)

Air 'Em Out

Interlude 03 (Freestyle)

Break the Glass

Story 5

Baby Don't Sleep

A Better Place

Side 3

Long Way Away (Theremin & Piano)

Wogglebug (Instrumental)

Where Shall I Go

Machine Loop (Instrumental)

Side 4

Story 5 (Harp)

Distant Radio Freestyle

Blerg (Instrumental)

Story 5 (Demo)

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0096/1884/9839/files/Clipping_SplendorAndMiseryAnniversary.jpg?v=1791875927
