16 Apr Fat White Wand Steals Sheep – New Releases 19th April
And breathe! What a fantastic Record Store Day we had in Soho – thanks to all that came both on the day and are still coming to the shop this week. If you couldn’t make it to Soho, remember we’ll be putting our remaining stock online this Saturday from midnight.
Why not add in some new releases too?
This week sees the return of the Fat White Family with a hugely different sounding record that sounds less Shipman, Goebbels and Mark E. Smith, and more David Axelrod-style easy listening, joyous Pet Shop Boys synth crescendos, acid house, post-PIL dub. It’s a definite new direction, and hell, it works.
When we were building this site, one of the first things we loaded up was the Stealing Sheep record – this second record really replicates the great live show – bold neon pop songs with rave percussion, steel pans, dreamy segues and breathy experiments. It’s like a Warpaint full of E numbers, proper fizzy fun.
Personal highlight this week, and let’s face it, it should also be yours, is the new Wand record. Carrying on from 2017’s ”Plum”, this is sprawling neo-psych sprawl that EVOL’s Sonic Youth, Funhouses The Stooges, some MBV shoegaze/white noise – all the good stuff in other words.
